Galway West showing one certainty

Galway West showing one certainty

O'Cuiv still very comfortable as things heat up in Galway West constituency

Ciara Galvin

After 94 percent of the Galway West boxes opened Fine Gael tallies are coming out with just one certainty, O'Cuiv is set to comfortably top the poll standing at 8,708.
The next in line for a possible seat is Independent Noel Grealish showing 10.5 so far followed by Fine Gael's SeΡn Kyne at 9.8 percent. Sinn Fein's Trevor O'Clochartaigh from south Connemara on 8.9percent. Independent Catherine Connolly at 7.7 percent. If elected, Connolly will become Galway West's first elected female candidate in 20 years.
At 7.3percent is Fine Gael colleagues Hildegarde Naughton and new to the constituency John O'Mahony. Not picking up as many votes as needed in the Galway City area, O'Mahony has a battle on his hands but is still set to receive a welcomed boost from south Mayo boxes still to be opened, namely Roundfort, Kilmaine, one Ballinrobe box and Cloonliffen.
Indications at this stage suggest an approximate quota of 11,000.
It's still all to play for, for what looks to be a long but interesting day in the Galway West count centre at NUI Galway.
