A new crime-fiction novel – ‘The Best Laid Schemes’, by local author Eugene Owens – will be launched in Westport this Friday. A native of Banada, Co Sligo, Eugene Owens has lived in Westport since he retired from teaching in the Swinford area in 2002.
The book is set mainly in the west of Ireland and centres around two crimes and one man who finds himself a focus in a Garda investigation. Seemingly unconnected events twist and conspire to lead the reader into a dark world of criminality, intrigue and ruthless murder.
‘The Best Laid Schemes’ will be launched by Matt Molloy, with an introduction by Liamy McNally, at Matt Molloy’s Yard Bar on Friday, October 7, at 6.30pm. All are welcome, and admission is free.
The event is part of Westport Arts Festival, which started last weekend and runs until October 9. For more information on festival events, visit www.westportartsfestival.com.
