The Linenhall Arts Centre has unveiled a wide-ranging programme of workshops, film and live performances
A diverse new programme at the Linenhall Arts Centre is set to bring creativity, storytelling and cultural connection to audiences in Mayo over the coming weeks.
At the heart of the venue’s latest offering is a focus on participation and community, with a range of workshops, films and live performances designed to engage both seasoned artists and newcomers alike.
One of the highlights is ‘Creative Connections’, a new five-week drama series led by Denise Guilfoyle and Terry McDonagh. Beginning on April 28, the workshops aim to build confidence and self-expression through theatre exercises, voice work and storytelling in a supportive environment.
The initiative forms part of the Bealtaine Festival, Ireland’s national celebration of arts and ageing, and is specifically tailored for those aged over 50, highlighting creativity at every stage of life.
Film also features prominently in the programme. A special screening of Palestine Comedy Club on May 8 will explore the lives of Palestinian comedians using humour as a form of resilience amid conflict. The event will include guest appearances from Irish comedians and potentially members of the cast, encouraging discussion and shared experiences.
Earlier in the schedule, the Linenhall Film Club will present the Persian-language film It Was Just an Accident on April 21, a gripping story that unfolds after a seemingly minor incident leads to a tense moral dilemma.

Music and performance are also central to the upcoming lineup. ‘Ball Nights – A Celebration of West Kerry Arts’ will take place on April 30, reviving the traditional practice of night-visiting through music, dance and poetry, featuring artists including Dairena Ní Chinnéide and Domhnall Ó Bric.
Other events include ‘An Evening with Kim Rosen’ on April 23, blending poetry and music, and a classical concert by Kammer Philharmonie on April 25.
The Linenhall said the programme reflects its ongoing commitment to fostering creativity and connection within the community.
Further details on all events are available through the Linenhall box office and website.
