Mayo County Council have advised commuters to allow extra time on their travels while road resurfacing works take place between two towns in the east of the county.

The works, ongoing throughout today (Thursday, November 20), are taking place on the L-1519 Old Knock road, often used by drivers between Claremorris and Knock.

The repairs are in the townlands of Drumneen South and Ballinphuill.

While the resurfacing is taking place, the Council has moved to advise those on the route to expect delays and allow extra time on their travels.

Commuters can also use the L-5512 Buherduff and N17 as alternative routes to avoid any congestion that may arise.
