Burrishoole 1-16

In Westport

Colm Moran’s late goal was crucial in this West Mayo clash. The boys in blue looked to be in trouble through the second half as they trailed by five at one stage.

Westport’s Ronan Geraghty opened the scoring after just three minutes with a fine goal. Burrishoole’s dangerman, Adam Reihill was in excellent form as he kicked five points across the opening half. Liam O’Malley’s side led at the break on a scoreline of 0-10 to Westport’s 1-4.

Nip and tuck right throughout, Burrishoole battled gamely as Joe Hughes Mc Loughlin was outstanding in the middle as the young midfielder finished off a well worked team move to the net after 38 minutes.

Colm Moran replied for Westport at a crucial time in which the Senior side were struggling to contain their intermediate opponents. The accurate Paddy O’Malley kicked a fine score from a placed ball as the impressive Ronan Geraghty followed up with an excellent two pointer.

With just one minute remaining in injury time, Patrick Cannon popped up from the defence to equalise for the men in white.

However, up the other end, a direct attack from Westport was finished off in style by Colm Moran who blasted to the net from close range.
