John Joe Patrick Finn may be used to rubbing shoulders with the likes of Rayan Cherki, Jonathan David, and Ousmane Dembélé nowadays, but Ireland's potential next debutant was a world away from the AVIVA Stadium in 2012, when he trained with one of Mayo soccer's leading lights.

13 years ago, the Ligue 1 defender was strutting his stuff in Westport at McConville Park, a tad different from the Parc Des Princes, the home of Champions League holders PSG. One of the locals who got to play with Finn was current Mayo GAA footballer Conal Dawson.

Finn has many Mayo connections, with his father hailing from Ballyhaunis, and could become the next man to represent the boys in green as they take on Senegal tonight.
