Award-winning harpist, Ursula Burns, is set to enchant Mulranny with her acclaimed one-woman show, ‘How Many Bardic Harpers Does It Take to Change a Lightbulb?’.
Known as The Dangerous Harpist, Ms Burns will take to the stage of the intimate Oratory of the Old Convent at Mulranny Arts tonight, Friday, June 7.
A trailblazer in the world of harp music, Ms Burns has spent 30 years shattering the conventional image of the harp.
Her innovative style blends music, theatre, circus and comedy, captivating audiences around the globe. Known for her dynamic and engaging performances, Burns has reinvented harp playing, bringing it to thrilling new heights.
Her accidental foray into comedy led her to win the Irish Musical Comedy Awards in 2012, and since then, she has been a regular at the Edinburgh Festival, earning a nomination for the prestigious Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality.
Most recently, Burns was honoured with the Everywoman Global TV Award for Outstanding Innovative Harpist of the Year in December 2023.
Burns' performance at Mulranny Arts promises to be a highlight of the Circus250 Daring Dames Festival, which recently wowed audiences in Achill and Mulranny.
The Oratory at the Old Convent, who host sell-out shows such as Kate Kerrigan's ‘Am I Irish Yet’ and the Keening Festival recently, provides the perfect setting for this one-of-a-kind event.
With six solo albums and a wealth of music composed, Ms Burns is a compelling artist who continuously pushes the boundaries of her craft.
