Castlebar multi-talented musician, Sal Heneghan
DON’T miss the captivating performance of Sal Heneghan, a multi-talented musician hailing from Castlebar, at the Fleadh Concert in the Dome Suite of the Castlecourt Hotel on Sunday, April 21.
The event, which will feature many of Ireland’s finest musicians, is the first in the lead up to Fleadh Cheoil Mhaigh Eo 2024.
Sal’s musical journey is as diverse as it is impressive, spanning across genres and continents. Graduating from the Irish World Academy at the University of Limerick. She recorded her debut album ‘Sal’ at just 20 years old, showcasing her exceptional talent as a harpist, violinist, pianist and singer.
Her extensive touring has earned her prestigious titles at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil and Siansa Gael Linn competitions.
As a dedicated educator, Sal’s impact extends far beyond the stage. She tutored Westport’s first u15 Céilí Band to enter Fleadh Mhaigh Eo in decades, leading them to great success.
Alongside her family, Sal runs the renowned ‘Westport Scoil Cheoil’ summer school, nurturing the next generation of Irish musicians.
With a passion for classical music, Sal’s studies have taken her to Sweden and earned her Senior Certificate grades in piano and violin from the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
Currently, she’s pursuing her finals for National School teaching, further enriching her dedication to music education.
