Stella Maris Shore House proudly reopened their doors
Stella Maris Shore House, a historic gem nestled on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean in Ballycastle, proudly reopens its doors under the new management of Rolf Siegrist.
The iconic establishment, with its rich history dating back to the mid-1800s, has undergone a meticulous rejuvenation to provide guests with a unique and unforgettable experience.
Under the guidance of Rolf Siegrist, a passionate entrepreneur from Switzerland, the house has been carefully preserved to retain its historical significance, while embracing modern comforts. He said: “It's such a lovely house and a stunning surrounding. I want to bring this hotel back on track again. It has always been a dream of mine to run a hotel and take care of guests from all over the world and I am so excited for what the future has in store”.
Stella Maris Shore House boasts 10 charming bedrooms, a conservatory retreat, and a lounge which offers carefully selected beverages from around.
One of the major standouts of the property is its breathtaking surroundings. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Irish coast, guests can immerse themselves in the natural beauty that the West coast of Ireland has to offer.
The history of Stella Maris Shore House is deeply ingrained in the fabric of Ireland. It was originally built as a Coast Guard Headquarters by the British in the mid-1800s, then later became a convent, before transforming into a small country hotel in the 1960s.
Mairéad Melody Carr, Manager of Mayo North Tourism, expressed her enthusiasm for the reopening, she said: “We are delighted to welcome back Stella Maris Shore House to our vibrant tourism landscape. This fabulous accommodation has played a crucial role in our community’s history, and its reopening adds a unique charm to our offerings.
“The surrounding area is truly spectacular, boasting attractions like the Wild Atlantic Way signature point of Downpatrick Head, the world-renowned Ballinglen Arts Foundation, and the extraordinary Ceide Fields—a prehistoric landscape that preserves an ancient agricultural system, providing a fascinating glimpse into Ireland’s past.” concluded Ms Melody Carr.
