Fianna Fáil Senator in Mayo, Lisa Chambers, has welcomed confirmation from her party colleague and Minister for Housing, Darragh O'Brien, TD, that 28 new social homes in Lios na Circe, Saleen in Castlebar has been approved in principle.
Welcoming this news, Senator Chambers said: “As a party, and at the heart of Fianna Fáil is the belief and aspiration that everybody should have access to good-quality homes, located in the right places, to purchase or rent at an affordable price. The Housing for All Plan puts us on the pathway to delivering that objective and to meeting the housing needs of all our people.
“The plan is working and I was delighted to receive confirmation from Minister Darragh O'Brien that 28 new social homes have been approved in principle for Castlebar. I understand that six of the homes will be specifically adapted for wheelchair users and will be managed by the Irish Wheelchair Association and the Approved Housing Body. This further demonstrates that Fianna Fáil in Government is committed to improving the lives of people with a disability and ensuring that adequate housing options are available in every part of the country. I look forward to seeing this project progress over the months ahead.”
