Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill pictured with Fine Gael candidates for the 2024 local elections in Claremorris, Cllr Tom Connolly, Alma Gallagher and Cllr Michael Burke
Fine Gael have selected Alma Gallagher to contest next year's local elections in Claremorris in place of outgoing councillor, John Cribbin, who will not be seeking re-election. Ms Gallagher, who is a manager with social housing association Clár ICH thanked the delegates at the selection convention in the McWilliam Park Hotel and outlined her ideas for enhancing the local area.
The well-attended convention was attended by Minister of State at the Department of Finance, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill and she listened intently as the candidates who will accompany Ms Gallagher on the Fine Gael ticket, sitting councillors Michael Burke and Tom Connolly, spoke about the ongoing development and progress of the area, while also highlighting issues they want to address going forward.
The convention delegates also heard an address from Cllr Cribbin, who said he had been honoured to represent the area for more than 25 years. A number of speakers then thanked Cllr Cribbin for the dedicated service to his constituents and to his party over the years.
The Local and European Elections are scheduled to take place in early June 2024 with the remaining selection conventions due to take place over the coming months.
