Tyrone are next up for Mayo

FOOTBALL In Mayo, John O’Mahony observed after Sunday’s National Football League win over Galway, defeat brings about despair and elation follows victory.
His side may have put the old enemy to the sword in front of the new stand at McHale Park, but with a trip to Omagh in his sights, the manager wasn’t getting carried away.
“I’d caution [against] any elation. We’ve to go up to Tyrone next week, and there’ll be a backlash there after what happened last night,” he said, in reference to Mickey Harte’s side’s defeat to Derry on Saturday night.
Mayo manager John O’Mahony and Galway boss Joe Kernan were all smiles after last Sunday’s NFL match at McHale Park, Castlebar. One down, only six to go!

In Mayo, John O’Mahony observed after Sunday’s National Football League win over Galway, defeat brings about despair and elation follows victory. His side may have put the old enemy to the sword in front of the new stand at McHale Park, but with a trip to Omagh in his sights, the manager wasn’t getting carried away.
“I’d caution [against] any elation. We’ve to go up to Tyrone next week, and there’ll be a backlash there after what happened last night.”
That was a reference to Mickey Harte’s side’s defeat to Derry on Saturday night. But as O’Mahony later noted, with a nod to Dublin’s surprising victory in Killarney: “There’ll be an awful lot of teams taking points off each other in this league.” With that in mind, he’ll be targeting ‘every match’, but was clearly pleased that the first of Mayo’s three home games had ended in victory.
“We got two points – that’s all it is at the end of the day,” he noted. “You won’t be asking me about this next July, September or October. We’re delighted now that we have the two points in the bag. We’ve four away games and some very, very tough matches.”
Andy Moran was singing from a similar hymn sheet.
“You’re going to take nothing for granted going up to Healy Park, especially after [Tyrone’s defeat to] Derry last night,” said the wing forward. “Hopefully we can get [a win] – if we get it, it’ll be four points, and it’d be a great start. I think we play similar styles of football, but I suppose over the last years, they’ve just been better at it than us – winning three All-Irelands.”
Mayo have yet to decide whether to appeal Trevor Mortimer’s sending-off. Mayo GAA Board Secretary SeΡn Feeney said said they would ‘have a look at’ referee Marty Duffy’s report before making a decision. They have three days to request a hearing.
Meanwhile, Seamus O’Shea is hoping to be fit to line out against Tyrone next weekend after coming off against Galway with 25 minutes to go with a suspected groin strain.
