Mayo GAA have told The Mayo News that they're investigating an incident which occurred after Sunday's senior final in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park.
A number of concerned supporters contacted this newspaper after the final whistle, stating that there was crowd congestion at the exit from the stadium.
This message was received by the sports department on Sunday evening.
“Chaos trying to get out. Everyone was trying to get out of the ground. I walked across the pitch from the stand in order to get out at The Bacon Factory End, but none of the gates were open all the way over to the Sportlann gate. All the big gates all along were closed, and the small ones too. We were absolutely wedged. Thank God there wasn't an incident.”,
We contacted Mayo GAA and made them aware of the complaints, and in a reply, they stated that they were aware that an issue had arisen and were investigating it.
