A BALLYCROY dog owner is calling on people to vote for his dog Fly in the 2022 Pet Sitters Ireland Nose of Tralee animal beauty competition.
Peadar Masterson’s dog Fly has already beaten off competition from over 1,500 dogs, cats – and even a hen – to make it to the top thirty-two entries in the country.
The seventeen-month-old Fly now needs public support to take the top prize in the competition, the winner of which will be determined by online voting.
His owner Peadar is now asking the public for their votes to help get the Border Collie over the line in the final round.
“I think Fly should be 2022 Nose of Tralee because he’s such an amazing, loyal dog,” Peadar said.
“Since I got him at nine weeks old, we have been inseparable. It’s true that a dog is a man’s best friend. Being a Border Collie, obviously sheep herding is in his genes. But to see him at ten weeks old showing the skill and knowledge to understand what he has to do, it’s just amazing how smart this breed actually are.
“He’s a very friendly dog and just loves life,” Peadar continued.
“I can’t praise him enough and he would make a brilliant ambassador for the Nose of Tralee 2022 if he won.”
Last year, Fly finished in the top fourteen of Petmania’s Puppy of The Year competition, which had nearly 1,800 entries.
He is now in with a chance of claiming the ‘Nose of Tralee’ accolade after being chosen by a judge to represent Mayo.
“I’ve started to bring him to shows [at] which he’s won lots of prizes and got a lot of compliments. I don’t bring him to win prizes, but to show off his beauty both inside and out. Regardless of how the voting goes he’s a winner in my eyes,” Peadar added.
