KICKBOXER SeΡn Ryan is Mayo’s latest World champion after taking home a gold medal in the Unified World Championships that took place in Italy recently.
The Galway Black Dragon fighter took home top spot in the 60kg Above the Waist In the Ring category, as well as taking home a silver medal in the Full Contact In the Ring and two bronze medals for the Low-Kick In the Ring and Universal Fighting Rules event which took place in the Octagon.
It was the Cong native’s third time representing Team Ireland abroad having only taken up the sport a couple of years ago.
Back in June, Ryan won the 60kg division at the WKU German Open as well as winning a Junior National Title at 64kg in Athlone last year.
The South Mayo man has been a revelation since donning the gloves a few years ago and those twice-weekly trips to Galway to train and hours of commitment are really starting to come to fruition right now.
