MAYO GAA chiefs have confirmed that the second round of the Mayo senior and intermediate club football championships will be played on the weekend of August 25/26 — as was reported in last week’s Mayo News.
In an e-mail that was circulated to all Mayo GAA clubs last week, the Competitions Control Committee (CCC) also confirmed that there will be no club championship matches played on the All-Ireland Final weekend of September 1/2.
The only club matches taking places on that weekend will be outstanding Senior League matches and Michael Walsh Intermediate League knock-out games.
All third round matches in the senior and intermediate club championships will be played on the weekend of September 8/9.
Meanwhile, a two-week break for all GAA activity in Mayo started yesterday (Monday, July 23) and runs until Sunday, August 5.
As a result the next two round of the Mayo senior football leagues will be played on the weekend of August 11/12 and August 18/19.
Junior draws
THE draws were also made last week for the quarter-finals of the Mayo Junior club football championship. All four games will be played on Saturday, August 18.
Kilmovee will take on Killala in MacHale Park, Castlebar at 4pm followed by the meeting of Kilmaine and Achill at 6pm; Kilmeena are up against Knockmore B in Ballina at 6pm; and Balla will face Cill ChomΡin in Crossmolina at 6pm.
In the Junior championship relegation play-offs, Ballycastle take on Crossmolina B and Tourmakeady face Ballina B.
