Claremorris gardaí investigating series of thefts from sites

Thefts include €6,000 worth of tools and batteries stolen from machinery on a building site

GARDAÍ in Claremorris are investigating a number of thefts in their district including €6,000 worth of tools and batteries stolen from machinery on a building site.
A large quantity of tools were taken from a shed located between Kiltimagh and Swinford between 11.15am and 1pm on Thursday last. The door of the shed was forced open and a large quantity of tools, including two laser levels, a rougher, two pass load guns, a bell sander and two screw guns, were taken. The value of the stolen tools is believed to be in excess of €6,000.
Meanwhile, gardaí are also investigating the theft of batteries taken from machinery in two separate incidents last week. Five batteries worth approximately €100 each were removed from machinery which was parked in a building site at Cloonaweema, Charlestown. The theft occurred some time between September 22 and 25.
Two batteries were also stolen from a turf machine and an excavator which were parked at Cloontooa, Claremorris some time between September 25 and 29.
Gardaí in Claremorris have asked anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in those areas over the past week to contact them. They also stated that anyone who may be offered tools or batteries to buy to contact Claremorris Garda Station on 094 9372087.
