GARDAÍ in Westport are continuing to investigate an attempted robbery at the ATM of the Ulster Bank on the North Mall in the town in the early hours of last Wednesday morning, January 25. No money was taken in the raid but damage was caused to the ATM which was noticed on Wednesday morning and the alarm was raised.
It is understood an attempt was made to drill into the ATM and a report of three people acting suspiciously in the vicinity of the Ulster Bank between 1am and 2am last Wednesday morning was made.
The area remained sealed off until lunchtime on Wednesday and was examined by the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit, while investigators closely studyed CCTV from the town’s public system and the bank itself. Anybody who noticed anything suspicious is asked to contact Westport Garda Station on 098 25555.
