Youth to face trial for Claremorris murder
A YOUTH charged with the murder of a 17-year-old Lithuanian national was sent forward for trial by a District Court judge today (Wednesday).
The accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with the murder of Dovydas Jenkus (17), Claremount Manor, Claremorris, at Claremount Manor on December 19 last.
Detective Sergeant James Carroll told Judge Mary Devins at Castlebar District Court that the 16-year-old schoolboy had been served with the Book of Evidence.
The accused was sent forward for trial to the current sitting of the Central Criminal Court.
The boy, who is on High Court bail, was accompanied by his mother during this morning’s brief court appearance.
Legal aid was assigned to the accused who was represented in court by solicitor Evan O’Dwyer.
