Young male seriously injured when car hit wall after collision

Gardaí at Westport Garda Station have renewed their appeal to the public for information after a serious road traffic collision occurred on the N5 at Drummindoo, Westport at 7.50am yesterday, Tuesday, January 5.
A young male was seriously injured when his Audi car left the road after a collision with another car and hit a wall on the Castlebar side of the Corrib Oil/Topaz filling station, beside the Peter Duffy Tool Hire and Sales premises.
The male, believed to be from Co Roscommon, was travelling to work in Castlebar when the accident occurred. He was removed to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar, where he remains, and his condition is still described as serious. The road was closed for over eight hours on Tuesday as Gardaí carried out an examination of the scene. Anyone with any information on the accident is asked to contact Westport Garda Station on 098 25555.
