Exhibition celebrates The Gift

An exhibition of work by artists with disabilities opens in the Café at The Museum of Country Life, Turlough Park, tomorrow

EXHIBITON This work by Bridie Lally will be one of the paintings on show.

A new exhibition of work by artists with disabilities is opening in the Café at The Museum of Country Life, Turlough Park at 11am tomorrow (Wednesday).
The opening celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which also takes place tomorrow, and it will be attended by the artists and their families and friends, as well as supporters and art lovers.
Cllr Lisa Chambers will officially open the exhibition, entitled ‘The Gift’, while filmmaker, writer and photographer Bob Quinn is the special guest speaker.
Members of Luisne Art Project, which is based in Ballinrobe, and ScannΡn Technologies, which is based in Ballina, have been collaborating since September, experiencing each other’s work, swopping skills and making an stop-motion animation film.
The Luisne artists have demonstrated how they paint, draw and create their art pieces, while the ScannΡn artists showed how they use a camera and demonstrated the process of making an stop motion film by bringing the Luisne artists’ creations to life.
Each artist also explored a gift that they themselves possess in their personality and made a work based on that exploration. By exchanging ideas, skills and knowledge, the artists also gifted one other. The theme of the exhibition also reflects the festive feeling at this time of year.
The artists’ film, paintings and drawings will be on show at the café until January 30.
