GARDAÍ in Ballinrobe investigating the burglary of a house and subsequent theft and arson of a car are seeking public assistance.
A house in the Lakelawns estate on the outskirts of the town was broken into in the early hours of Sunday morning where a handbag containing car keys was taken.
A 2007 Opel Vectra was stolen and was later found on fire by Gardaí. The car was found on fire on the Station Road at approximately 1.55pm. At this point the owners of the car were unaware of the break-in and theft.
Gardaí told The Mayo News yesterday evening (Monday) that CCTV footage shows the car travelling around the town and they are now seeking the public’s assistance.
Anyone in the Lakelawns area between 1am and 2am on Sunday morning last who noticed suspicious activity should call Ballinrobe Garda Station on 094 95 42830 or any garda station.
