No dining carriages on new Dublin trains

THE new carriages which Iarnród Éireann are due to put into action on the Westport to Dublin line in the spring of 2008 are to have no dining carriages, according to Westport Fianna Fáil county councillor, Margaret Adams.
Cllr Adams said it wasn’t good enough that someone who had to travel one hour from Belmullet to get a train from Westport, and then a further three and a half hours to Dublin, had to do so without a proper meal.
“We have been waiting for years to have these new trains and everyone is expecting top class facilities. I feel we should ask the local area manager from Iarnród Éireann to address a meeting of the council and explain the lack of dining facilities,” stated Cllr Adams, whose call for a meeting with a representative from Iarnrod Éireann was seconded by Cllr Frank Chambers.
