FOOTBALL The search for a new Mayo manager is now on after Mickey Moran’s one year term came to an end last night (Tuesday)
Moran’s reign ends
BREAKING NEWS Mike Finnerty
THE search for a new Mayo manager is now on after Mickey Moran’s one year term came to an end last night (Tuesday). A statement from the Mayo GAA Board this morning confirmed that Moran’s reign was officially over after a meeting in Sligo last night between Board officers and the Derry based manager. The statement reads: “Following a meeting of Mickey Moran with officers of County Mayo GAA Board last evening, Mickey has decided to step down as manager of our Senior squad. Mickey would like to take this opportunity to thank his management team, backroom staff and the players who were a pleasure to work with at all times. He also wishes to thank the Board and, in particular, the following Board members, Chairman, James Waldron, Secretary, Sean Feeney, Treasurer, JP Lambe and PRO, Noelle Horan for their support during the year and finally to thank the wonderful supporters of Mayo football. Mickey wishes his successor good luck and every success and no one will be happier than him to see Mayo lift Sam Maguire. On behalf of County Mayo GAA Board, James Waldron wishes to thank Mickey Moran, John Morrison and Kieran Gallagher for all of their work and dedication to Mayo football during the year. Neither party will make any further statement.” The next full meeting of the County Board is not due to take place until next month, however an emergency meeting of the Mayo GAA Executive could be held at short notice were the need to arise.
