A YOUNG boy who went missing near Clonbur yesterday afternoon (Monday) was found safe without suffering any injuries.
Members of the Galway and Mayo Mountain Rescue teams were called to search for a missing young boy in the mountainous areas around Clonbur at lunch time yesterday (Monday). The young boy was reported to have gone missing for three to four hours but before the search began the boy was reported found without suffering any injuries.
Mayo Mountain Rescue were also involved in two other call-outs during the week with both incidents occurring on Croagh Patrick. On Saturday afternoon a young boy was reported to have fallen on the Reek suffering from minor cuts and bruises.
His parents were not with him when he was first found by the rescue team, who were concerned the boy may be in shock, and asked for the coast guard helicopter to transfer him to hospital. However, when the parents arrived they declined the offer to bring him to hospital in the helicopter and decided to go to A&E themselves. A spokesperson for Mayo Mountain Rescue said the young boy was brought down the mountain by his parents and members of the rescue team and seemed fine at the bottom.
On Friday afternoon, a woman fell near the foot of Croagh Patrick and suffered a leg injury. However she was able to walk to the carpark and drove to the hospital with her partner.

Man airlifted off Clare Island
On Friday evening, a young male was airlifted to hospital in Galway after suffering from head injuries after a fall on Clare Island.
The Achill Island Lifeboat was called out to evacuate the young male from the island after he suffered head injuries. However the Medical Adviser who travelled with the crew on the lifeboat to Clare Island felt that his injuries were too severe for him to travel by sea to the mainland.
The coast guard helicopter was tasked from Sligo and airlifted the casualty to hospital in Galway.
