GARDAÍ in Ballina are warning the public not to give their personal details to unknown callers in order to avoid a scam that is currently affecting the Ballina district.
Members of the public contacted Ballina Garda Station last week reporting calls from the scammers purporting to be a Microsoft representative.
Scammers are asking people to log on to their computer and enter personal details and bank account details.
Gardaí in Ballina are aware of a ‘handful’ of calls from the scammers in the wider Ballina area and are appealing to the public not to give any personal or financial details out.
