Selfie campaign for autism-assistance dogs launched

A new campaign that aims to get people all around Ireland and beyond wearing their county or club colours to support Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland was launched recently, which included a promotional video shot at Croagh Patrick.
The video was edited and filmed by Katie Hughes from Attymass, outside Ballina. Katie works in CRCfm in Castlebar. Also supporting the campaign is well-known autism activist Johnny Oosten from Castlebar. They were both at the launch in Cork.
The concept is simple. Organisers are inviting people to take a picture of themselves – a selfie – in their sporting colours and post the picture to their Facebook page. Then text ‘AUTISM’ to 50300 to donate €4 to Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland.
For those living abroad, a donation can be made via the group’s ‘iDonate’ app on the Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland Facebook page. All who donate will be in with a chance of winning one of 32 short breaks in Ireland.
Organisers are asking people to then nominate three friends to do the same which they hope will work the same way as the successful ‘no make-up selfie’ did for the Irish Cancer Society.
