Call out for Westport Arts Festival’s McGing’s exhibition

McGing’s Bar, Westport, in conjunction with Westport Arts Festival 2013, is inviting submissions for its 2013 small-works group show entitled ‘Small Talk’. The exhibition will run in the bar, which is located on High Street, for the duration of the festival (September 27 to October 6). It is open to anyone and everyone who would like to take part.
‘Small Talk’ can be anything – from painting to a sculpture, a drawing to a video. However, all works must be no larger than 20cm by 20cm in any dimension (including the frame if applicable). The closing date for submissions is September 20.
Work can be left in, or posted to the Custom House Studios, The Quay, Westport. All work must be labelled ‘Small Talk’. Submissions should include the artist’s name, telephone number and email address, as well as the title of the work, a description of the medium used, its dimensions and a desired price. (If sold, a 20 percent commission will be taken by Westport Arts Festival.)
Artists submitting digital media presentations (audio, video) are responsible for the provision and installation of appropriate playing/screening equipment. Westport Arts Festival Visual Arts Committee or Curators do not accept liability for loss or damage of works, and insurance of works against loss or damage is the responsibility of the artist.
The organisers aim to hang as much work as possible but reserve the right to select from submitted work for curatorial purpose.   
Selected artists will be notified by September 25 via email. Exhibited Work must be collected by artists on October 7 between 12pm and 4pm at McGing’s. Work to be returned by post must be accompanied by a Stamped Address Envelope.
‘Small Talk’ is being co-ordinated by GrΡinne O’Reilly, Caroline Masterson and Breda Burns.

‘Small Talk’ will be official opened on Friday, September 27, at 9.30pm in McGing’s pub, High Street, Westport. The drop off point – Custom House Studios, The Quay, Westport – is open Monday to Friday, from 10am to 5pm, and Saturdays and Sundays, 1pm to 4.30pm.
