Fancy singing from the summit?

Organisers of the 2014 Mayo International Choral Festival want two members from every choir to sing on Croagh Patrick

Fancy singing from the summit of the Reek?

Organisers of the 2014 Mayo International Choral Festival are looking for two members from every choir in Mayo to take part in a special launch event this month. These singers will not only have to be able to hold a tune – they’ll also need walking boots and a head for heights.
Sing from the Summit will see the 2014 Festival Syllabus officially launched from one of the highest points in Co Mayo – the Top of Croagh Patrick – on Saturday, September 14. When the choral loving climbers reach the top, they will gather to sing ‘Moonlight in Mayo’ en masse.
The adventurous singers will meet at 9.45am in the Croagh Patrick, and start the climb at 10am. Refreshments will be served at Campbell’s Pub at the base on completion of the climb – and maybe a song or two will be sung to celebrate the achievement.
Members of choirs outside Mayo are also welcome to seize this opportunity to see Mayo from its highest point overlooking lovely Clew Bay, and celebrate the view in song.
Plans for the 2014 Mayo International Choral Festival, which will be held from May 15 to 18, are well under way, with several national and international  choirs already booked in and looking forward to concerts, competitions and a gala choral evening.
