A UNIQUE new adventure challenge in support of Mountain Rescue Ireland is due to take place over the first weekend of April. ‘The Irelander’ adventure challenge involves a weekend adventure for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts which takes place over 48 hours on April 5, 6 and 7. The events locations have yet to be revealed but organisers say it will involve some of Ireland’s most stunning locations. The adventure challenge involves climbing a total of 100km over four summits and driving 1,000km over the weekend and ‘promises to be an exciting and unique weekend’. This is the inaugural year of the event, launched by Mountain Rescue Ireland with the support of Portwest and Applegreen. Participants will raise much needed funds for their local Mountain Rescue Teams. Interested groups should register in teams of five to seven people and include two designated drivers and be sufficiently equipped for a weekend on the hills. For further information please contact Sharon on 087 2590290 or e-mail fundraising@mountainrescue.ie or Robert Hunt on 087 1798426 or email info@mayomrt.com.
