A FISHERMAN sustained suspected broken ribs and a punctured lung while fishing 53 miles south west of Achill Island in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The fisherman was rescued by the Achill RNLI lifeboat which was launched at approximately 12.15am on Sunday, January 20 after receiving a report to assist a fisherman who sustained injuries following a fall.
He was brought ashore for medical attention for suspected broken ribs and a punctured lung. A local doctor attended to the man at Cloughmore Pier and he was transferred to Mayo General Hospital.
