Demand for tickets is rising by the day

“OVER 90 per cent” of Mayo clubs are taking the maximum ticket allocation ahead of the All-Ireland Final, according to County Board Board chairman Paddy McNicholas.
Clubs who raised €1,000 have access to additional 20 tickets, with a further 20 available to clubs who raised €2,000. McNicholas also revealed that “99 per cent” of people who are members of the CΡirde Mhaigheo supporters’ club opted to renew their membership up front, thus entitling them to buy an extra ticket.
“There’s greater demand every single day, especially since the clubs got their tickets last Thursday,” the chairman told The Mayo News last night (Monday). “The ’phone is hopping, day and night, and [we’ve been getting] numerous e-mails. People are ringing up, particularly people who are based outside the county and not attached to clubs … they seem to get the phone numbers of County Board officers!”
The Kiltimagh clubman said it would be “towards the end of the week” before it was known whether Mayo would be receiving an additional batch of tickets. But he doesn’t expect a large number of ‘returns’ from non-competing counties.
“There’s a lot of Mayo people living in every part of Ireland, and they have got in contact with the clubs there, I’m sure. They’ll pick up the tickets in those counties.”
All Mayo senior clubs are guaranteed at least 100 tickets, with 80 for intermediate clubs, 60 for junior clubs, and 40 for exclusive hurling clubs. There’s also an additional ten tickets per player for clubs with members who are part of the county squad. Clubs in the three major urban areas and those who sold most County Board Draw tickets also get an extra allocation. Anyone who played in the senior championship for Mayo is also guaranteed a ticket.
