IT is the second smoke-bomb to be thrown into Westport Garda Station in the last eight months and now Westport gardaí are appealing to any member of the public who may have information on the incidents to contact them.
A garda spokesman confirmed to The Mayo News yesterday that a canister emitting orange smoke was thrown into the public reception area of the station at 1.45am on Monday morning. The explosion set off the smoke alarm. The garda spokesman said they were not following any definite line of inquiry and for anyone with information to phone the local office: 098 25555 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.
