BALLINROBE Tidy Towns have launched a “Brighten Up Ballinrobe” campaign for 2011, aimed at encouraging townspeople to clean up, paint up and plant up their properties.
With wonderful support and goodwill from our local paint suppliers, painters, garden centres and tool hire, Ballinrobe residents can avail of discounts on paints, paint brushes, painter costs, the cost of hiring a power-washer and discounts on plants and garden services.
Tim O’Sullivan, Chairman of Ballinrobe Tidy Towns said: “It’s wonderful to see such community spirit in times like these. Businesses, tradesmen and councillors in the town have been very helpful and supportive of this initiative, which aims to brighten up the town.
“So there’s no excuse for not doing that spring clean on your property.  Let’s work together to make Ballinrobe a better place to live, work and visit.”
Discounts on offer include: price-reductions from painters working in the area; 10% off 10 litre Sandex exterior wall paint and Dulux Weathershield 10 litre reduced to €53.95, both available at Cummins’ Hardware; 10% off MacPherson’s Powersheen external paint at Dunleavy’s Hardware; free 4-inch masonry brush with every 10 litre bucket of paint bought, free potting-up of window boxes/baskets; free garden design and consultancy and all 6-packs of bedding plants for €2.99 all at Connacht Gold Ballinrobe; four trays of bedding plants for €10.00 by Morley’s Garden Centre; buy 2 bags of compost, get 3rd free; water fountain ½ price only €50; roses only €5.95; large Forsythia shrubs only €5 (€3 off); shrubs from €3.50; hedging only €3; large rhododendrons €13.95; fruit trees €12.50 all by Concannon’s, Greenacres Nursery (Liskillen, Ballinrobe); 10% off power-washers at Ballinrobe Tool and Plant Hire.
“Over the coming months, tourists will be attracted to the town for events such as the races and the May Fly Fishing Festival,” added Niamh Coyne, PRO of Ballinrobe Tidy Towns.
“The April, ‘Brighten Up Ballinrobe’ campaign aims to ensure that our town is looking its best for the upcoming tourist season, but we can’t do it without your help. As our motto says, ‘If we all do a little, together we do a lot.’
“So whether you live in town, have a business, let out a property or have an unused property, now is the time to take advantage of the promotions being offered to clean, paint and plant flowers and shrubs to add some much-needed colour to the town.  Don’t let your premises be the one to let your street and town down. Your town needs you!”
