JOHN Kelly is the new manager of the Mayo junior football team. Kelly, who is currently training Parke, was recommended for the position by the Executive of Mayo GAA Board following interviews with him and Billy Fitzpatrick on Thursday.
Kelly, who unsuccessfully sought the position last year, heads up a team that includes Swinford’s Vinnie Gavin and Hollymount’s Ray Connelly. He was proposed by Anthony Egan (Bonniconlon) and seconded by Joe McEvey (Moy Davitts). Mayo GAA Board Chairman Paddy McNicholas wished Kelly well, and thanked Fitzpatrick for his many years of service.
The chairman added that managers are being sought for the two Mayo U-16 teams (South-East and North-West) which will be entered into the Ted Webb Cup.
