A Cong man bit his lip and spit blood on Gardaí while shouting that he would give them AIDS after being arrested
Man spat blood in Garda’s face
A CONG man bit his lip and spat blood on gardaí while shouting that he would give them AIDS after being arrested in Claremorris in November of 2009. Barry Ward with an address in Gortaroe, Cong bit his bottom lip so he would have blood to spit in the face of gardaí as he was being arrested. The man proceeded to kick out at members of the Gardaí and shouted abuse. When detained in the garda station Mr Ward began to smear his own blood on the door and walls of the cell. The then 19-year-old, who is now living in Tuam with his girlfriend, had a previous conviction for a public order offence the month before the incident. One of the gardaí involved in the original incident claimed that Mr Ward had followed and intimidated him while he was off duty some time leading up to the court case. Judge David Anderson ordered that a probation report be drawn up and adjourned sentencing until April 19.
