Six people were taken to hospital on Monday evening after a two-car collision on the busy Westport to Castlebar road
Six hospitalised after rush hour crash near Westport
Six people were taken to hospital on Monday evening after a two-car, rush-hour collision on the busy Westport to Castlebar road. The crash took place at around 5.30pm near Islandeady. One person has been discharged, four remain in Mayo General Hospital and one person is said to seriously injured and has been taken to hospital in Galway. As a result of the crash, the busy N5 was closed on Monday evening with traffic diverted along many country roads in the area. The road re-opened on Tuesday morning and the Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to the crash.
