No Mayo candidate is expected to be elected this evening after the returning officer, Ann Marie Courell confirmed that the fifth count will be the final one of the evening.

High profile Fine Gael candidate Martina Jennings has been eliminated following the distribution of Chris Maxwell's vote with Rose Conway-Walsh now 516 votes short of the quota of 11,812.

Fine Gael's Keira Keogh was the big beneficiary of Maxwell's 2,616 votes with the Westport-based candidate receiving 654 which took her ahead of her party colleague Mark Duffy into fourth place.

Keogh now has 6,679 votes after four counts which takes her 472 votes ahead of Duffy while Fianna Fáil candidate Lisa Chambers is now on 6,011.

The distribution of the Louisburgh-based Independent Ireland candidate's vote resulted in Independent candidate Stephen Kerr overtaking Jennings and eliminating the current CEO of Mayo Roscommon Hospice

Independent Patsy O'Brien is now on 5,556 with Aontú's Paul Lawless on 4,917.

The distribution of Jennings's 3,632 votes is expected to benefit her close neighbour in Hollymount Patsy O'Brien and Conway-Walsh is unlikely to bridge the 516 votes needed to reach the quota.

Alan Dillon (FG) now stands on 9,908 while Dara Calleary (FF) is further behind on 8,899.

Returning officer, Ann Marie Courell confirmed that the distribution of Martina Jennings vote will be the last count of the night.
