THREE candidates for Mayo GAA's CEO position were interviewed yesterday (Thursday) as the process nears a completion.

This is the latest phase in the search for a candidate to help guide the fortunes of Gaelic games in the county and it's expected the name of a preferred candidate will be put forward within weeks.

At this week's meeting of the club delegates in Castlebar, Donal Walshe, chairman of South Mayo GAA, who is part of the team working on the appointment, explained that the process was moving quickly and effectively.

"The initial round of interviews was held two weeks ago, when five candidates were interviewed. Following this process, the shortlist has been narrowed to three candidates who will attend a second round of interviews this week.
"If everything goes according to plan, and subject to the successful candidate being in a position to accept the offer and confirm their notice period, we'd hope to bring the name of a proposed candidate and the date of their appointment to the March meeting of the County Board."
The recruitment process is being overseen by Collins McNicholas Recruitment and HR Services Group.
