Many Mayo fans saw plenty to be impressed with in Salthill last Sunday.

How Andy Moran's men went about their business against Galway wasn't perfect, but plenty of positives were on display as they put Pádraic Joyce's troops to the sword.

However, their admirers weren't confined to the borders of the county, with one of the most well-known pundits in the land seeing the positive facets of the Green and Red's showing.

Kerryman Pat Spillane has seen enough to row in behind Mayo as his early-doors favourite to lift the League title.

However, in his view, the county he represented with distinction aren't going to be too far away from hoisting the Corn Mhíchíl Uí Mhuircheartaigh aloft.

"Mayo to win Division 1, but don’t rule out Kerry," the nine-time All-Star mused. "Remember last year? Kerry lost their first three games. Then, in Pomeroy, finally got their act together.
"Would I rule Kerry out of winning another league? Absolutely not. David Clifford and Seanie O’Shea are back. They’re chomping at the bit. There will be huge competition for places.
"So, Mayo to win Division One. If not, Kerry."
