Journey so far: How did Ballina Stephenites get to Mayo GAA senior decider?

Ballina Stephenites have qualified for yet another final on the back of impressive performances

Mayo Senior Football Championship: Group 1

Ballina Stephenites 0-16

Garrymore 0-13

In Charlestown

It wasn't pretty but Ballina got the business done. Ballina had to close the ranks defensively after getting cut open too often by Crossmolina the round before.

Stephenites manager Niall Heffernan and his team won't care that this encounter never caught fire.

Spurred on by  man of the match Luke Jordan, who turned in a superb display of timely tackling and scoring points up front, Ballina brushed Garrymore aside.

Frank Irwin was top scorer for the Stephenites on this occasion with a haul of 0-5. Evan Regan contributed two two-pointers.

Ballina finished second in their group, as Crossmolina hammered Ballyhaunis to claim top spot though.

The draw would throw up a repeat fixture against Ballaghaderreen. In last year's championship, the two teams clashed in the semi-final and it went into extra-time before Ballina booked their tickets for the final.
