After inspiring her club to a county junior title, Keane was named at wing-back on our inaugural Mayo News Ladies Team of the Year.

She was outstanding in the county final, but the defiance, grit, power and leadership she showed in their mind-binding Connacht semi-final defeat to Coolera-Strandhill had to be seen to be believed.

Liam McHale clearly saw enough in the 19-year-old ATU Galway student to add her to a squad bursting with youth but not overflowing with experience.

Coming from East Mayo, it won’t surprise you to learn she’s played camogie for Tooreen and Mayo as well.
