ALL-IRELAND U-21 championship-winning manager Michael Solan has been appointed as manager of the Longford senior football team.
The Ballaghaderreen native was formally ratified by the Longford Executive Committee for a three-year term.
Solan famously guided Mayo to the All-Ireland U-21 title in 2015 and was also at the helm when the county's U-20s reached the 2018 decider.
He is currently in charge of the Tourlestrane senior footballers and was also part of Andy Moran's backroom team during his first year in charge of the Leitrim senior footballers.
Solan also put his name forward to manage the Mayo senior football team but withdrew from the process after James Horan put his name forward for the job after Stephen Rochford stepped down in 2018.
Longford competed in the Tailteann Cup under Paddy Christie in 2024 but failed to progress beyond the round-robin phase.
