Tributes have been paid to Jean Cross following her passing after a long illness.
Jean is remembered for her intelligence, empathy and strength by all who knew her, she is also remembered as a dedicated activist and feminist.
Several messages of condolences have been posted in the wake of her passing, many of which note the great impact Jean had on people she met over the course of her life.
One person wrote: "Jean was a remarkable woman, a wonderful writer, a great feminist and a dedicated activist. It was an honour and a pleasure to have known her. May she rest in peace."
Another said: "Jean was the best of us, fiercely intelligent, highly empathic, with a gentle strength."
A friend of Jean's wrote: "We are devastated at the loss of my best pal Jean who fought her illness with great courage and never complained."
Jean passed peacefully after a long illness in the loving care of her family and the staff of Mayo Hospice, Castlebar. Beloved partner of Angela and beloved sister of Dave, Catherine and Helen. Sadly missed by her family, Nicole, Aidan, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at her family home (Dublin 9) on Friday evening, November 8, from 4pm onwards. Jean’s cremation service will take place on Saturday morning, November 9, at 10am at Glasnevin Crematorium.
