Daniel Walsh, the winner of the Texaco Children's Art Competition and his artwork titled 'Colm'', headed to the International High School Arts Festival in Tokyo.
A Mayo teenager saw his award-winning artwork recognised on the global stage earlier this month, as he jetted off to Japan for a global arts exhibition.
This month, 18-year-old Daniel Walsh jetted off to Tokyo, where he joined some of the finest young artists across the globe at the 26th International High School Arts Festival.
The Claremorris native has already received plenty of acclaim in his home country, where he was named the overall winner in the 16 to 18-year-old category of the Texaco Children's Art Competition.
His pencil sketch of a family friend, simply titled 'Colm', received rave reviews and represented a huge rise, considering he only picked up a pencil and got into sketching properly last Christmas.
In fact, it was for that same very sketch that Daniel was given the chance to showcase his artwork at an international event, at the invitation of Japan's International Foundation of Arts and Culture.
The event was a showcase of top worldwide talent, with 15,000 works submitted by students around the planet.
The talented young artist can add this appearance to his growing number of big moments since dipping his toes into the art scene.
