Some people say certain things are impossible. Well for one man who climbed Croagh Patrick while amazingly carrying two 32kg kettlebells along the way, anything is achievable.

Before the climb, Roman Holubenko had the idea that ‘nothing is impossible, just some things are more difficult than others’ and that positive approach worked in his favour as he completed a mammoth physical and mental challenge.

Climbing the popular Mayo mountain for the very first time, Roman didn't do it in the typical usual way. He set off with two 32kg kettlebells, a backpack which included five litres of water as well as having food and a spare set of clothes.

With a never say die attitude, Roman made his way to the top of the summit in a time of 11 hours and 37 minutes.

The man who pulled off the impressive challenge commented “Most people I know said it would be impossible, but I wanted to prove otherwise. At the beginning many doubted me, but during the climb I received supportive messages online. However, after my phone battery died halfway up, I continued the final five to six hours completely on my own. The steep rocky terrain made it the hardest challenge of my life.”

In conclusion, Roman said “When I finally reached the top, exhausted but determined, I placed the kettlebells there as a symbol. The next day, a local man told me that in his 20 years he had never seen anyone achieve such a thing, and even he doubted I would make it past halfway.

"For me, this story is about more than just climbing a mountain. It is about showing that everything is possible if you believe in yourself. I hope it can inspire others to push beyond their limits, no matter what people say."
