The average temperature of 13.7 degrees Celsius is some 1.9°C lower than the mean recorded in Dublin’s Phoenix Park.

The airport’s recordings are still measuring as hotter than average in the region despite being the lowest, and are some 1.2°C higher than the 12.5°C long-term average between the years 1991 and 2020.

Mayo was also the dullest county in the country, per the statistics. Knock Airport saw only 92.6 hours of sunshine throughout the month, the lowest figure nationwide.

The Met Éireann station in Claremorris recorded the joint most ‘rain days’ in the country at 26 days, with Athenry in Galway. Rain days are classified as days with more than 0.2 millimetres of rainfall. The full report can be accessed here

Claremorris also recorded the highest number of ‘very wet’ days, with five, alongside Ballyhaise in Cavan and Finner, Donegal.

Very wet days are defined as days where rainfall exceeds ten millimeters.
