“An Evening to Remember” will bring music, remembrance and Mayo roots to Castlebar on November 8

Renowned Mayo singer and songwriter Julianne Hennelly is set to return to her Mayo roots for a special evening of music and remembrance in Castlebar this November.

Julianne will join forces with the Mayo Concert Orchestra for ‘An Evening to Remember’, which will take place at the Church of the Holy Rosary in Castlebar on Sunday, November 8, at 4pm.

Inspired by November’s traditional month of All Souls remembrance, the family-friendly concert will feature a mixture of original songs, Irish ballads and much-loved classics.

Julianne’s original material, including songs inspired by Mayo, will feature alongside classics by Dolly Parton, Julie Rogers and Jimmy McCarthy.

The programme will also include spiritual pieces such as How Great Thou Art and Julianne’s signature Irish Psalm, Sé an Tiarna M’aoire.

Julianne, who has made an impact on the Dublin music scene through her performances of Irish ballads, folk songs and original material, said the Castlebar concert holds a special significance for her.

“This performance is incredibly meaningful to me. Collaborating with the magnificent Mayo Concert Orchestra in such a beautiful, acoustic setting as the Church of the Holy Rosary allows us to create an evening that truly honours the spirit of remembrance, connection, and family roots,” she said.

The Mayo Concert Orchestra will perform under the direction of musical director Kathy Fahey, providing symphonic accompaniment to Julianne’s vocals.

Organisers have deliberately chosen the early 4pm start to make the event accessible to both younger and older members of the community.

With seating at the Church of the Holy Rosary strictly limited, early booking is being encouraged. Tickets for ‘An Evening to Remember’ are available through Eventbrite.
