Artist Paul MacCormaic will host a talk at the Linenhall Arts Centre to mark the closing of his exhibition.
Art lovers in Castlebar are being invited to a special artist talk this weekend to mark the closing of a striking portrait exhibition.
Artist Paul MacCormaic will host a talk at the Linenhall Arts Centre tomorrow Saturday, April 11 at 12 noon, offering insight into his exhibition The Vanquished Writing History.
The exhibition features 13 large-scale portraits of individuals who have played significant roles in shaping Irish society through activism, advocacy or legal action. Many of the subjects, or their representatives, have shared their personal stories, highlighting their contributions and struggles.
During the talk, MacCormaic will discuss the creative process behind the works and his experience working with what he describes as “extraordinary subjects”.
The portraits have been praised for their emotional depth and detail, capturing the physical and personal realities of those depicted — from expressions of resilience and pride to the visible marks of hardship and perseverance.
The exhibition, which has been running at the Linenhall gallery, will close on April 11, with the artist talk forming part of its final day.
