A Mayo boxer is celebrating breaking new ground as she maintained her undefeated professional record, while also moving into the top five rankings of her division.
Rachel ‘The Bullet’ Lally has already shown her pedigree during her long and winding road in the ring, from her time at Golden Gloves Boxing Club in her hometown of Belmullet to her national U-18 title in 2012.

On February 23, Lally proved herself at the next level, taking on Cameroon’s Marie Victorine Tsimi Onguene in The SPACE, Dubai. Her unanimous victory earned her a shot at a fight which would see her remarkably move into the super-middleweight division's top five.
On Saturday, June 21, the proud Mayo native found herself back at the scene of her demolition of Onguene in The SPACE.
This time, the opponent represented a step up, as the Egyptian, Ganat Sayed, stood across the ring from her.
Sayed is well-renowned in Dubai boxing circles and holds the title of national amateur champion.
The local fighter tried to push the pace of the fight early in Round One of her professional debut, trying to push her Irish opponent backwards and unleashing a flurry of punches.

However, Lally was able to absorb the impact and keep pushing forward, and the intensity from the fighter in the blue corner waned as the bell inched closer.
Sayed tried to put the pressure on again in Round Two, but it seemed like she had played her hand in the opening exchanges and was visibly fatigued. From there, Lally picked off her adversary with ease.
Midway through the second round, she had the African on the ropes and was picking her punches with devastating effect. Sayed was powerless, and the referee was given no choice but to award Belmullet’s finest the TKO win after she took a pummeling with little response.

During the post-fight interview, Lally stated she was ‘feeling on top of the world.’
The three-fight undefeated puncher also moved to thank her sponsor, Capital Sky Limited, which is a company with strong Erris roots.
She also paid tribute to those who supported her both in her home county and beyond.
“You’re the strength that keeps me going,” she stated.
